MICROTEMP® Thermal Cutoffs - Series Detail

MICROTEMP® thermal cutoffs are available in a range of temperatures and electrical ratings to meet your application requirements (See figure 4). There are four primary types of thermal cutoffs available including three global agency rated series plus a high precision series with special quality certification. Standard dimensions of each TCO series are shown in figure 3 below.

G4 Series - Rated for continuous operating currents up to 10 amps@25OVAC (l5amps@ 120 VAC), the G4 Series MICROTEMP® TCO is the industry standard for over temperature protection. The G4 Series is applied to millions of appliances and personal care products each year providing reliable back-up protectton for tern peratu re controlling thermostats and other over temperature conditions. The G4 Series is also widely applied in office machines, portable heaters and industrial equipment as a thermal safeguard. In the event of the thermostat end of life condition or other over temperature condition, the MICROTEMP TCO protects against potentially hazardous over-heating by interrupting the electrical current in the product.

G5 Series - Designed for special high current applications, the G5 Series MICROTEMP® TCO is rated for operating currents up to 16 amps @250 VAC (25 amps @ 120 VAC). Similar in appearance to the G4 Series, the G5 Series has a different internal construction capable of interrupting higher currents. G5 Series TCOs are found in electric heaters and other higher current devices requiring overtemperature protection.

G7 Series - The G7 Series MICROTEMP TCO is designed to satisfy applications requiring lower current interrupt capability. The G7 Series thermal cutoff is approximately 30% smaller than the G4 and G5 Series and can satisfy the smaller size requirements of transformers, motors and electronic circuit applications.

Y1 Series - The Yl Series MICROTEMP TCO is built to rigid manufactu ring processes and x-ray inspection specifications. The Yl Series is used in aircraft applications such as fuel booster pump motors and heaters. Please contact a Therm-O-Disc sales engineer for further information on the Yl Series TCO.
