Therm-O-Disc
offers a variety of packaging options for MICROTEMP® Thermal
Cutoffs. The popular G4APO2 surface mount package, shown in figure
8, consists of a G4 Series thermal cutoff with spade terminals potted
into an electronically insulated case. This special package enables
accurate sensing of ambient and surface temperatures. The G4AP or
G5AP can be easily replaced in the field without disturbing the
rest of the circuit. Packages designed to meet the needs of the
HVAC industry are covered in Therm-O-Disc’s bulletin "MICROTEMP®Thermal
Cutoffs for HVAC Applications." Custom packages, insulations
or special assemblies may be specified to meet your unique application
needs (see figure 9). By taking advantage of our technical expertise
and high volume production methods and equipment, Therm-O-Disc may
be able to provide you with significant savings on custom packages.
TCO
Installation
The testing
and installation procedures described in the MICROTEMP~ Thermal
Cutoffs Technical Bulletin, “Application and Installation of MICROTEMP®
Thermal Cutoffs,” must be observed to properly apply the TCO in
the application. Agency ratings should be used only as a guideline.
In actual applications, ambient temperatures and electrical requirements
are often non-uniform and/or rapidly changing. Independent testing
of the finished product is necessary to determine that the thermal
cutoff will operate as intended in the application. MICROTEMP® TCOs
are not repairable and must be replaced by a TCO with the same calibration
and mounted the same way as the open TCO.
